SUP Club – Grist to the Mill

Info

Venue: Mill House (CM3 4BG)
Meeting: c.5.50pm, 12th Sep 2023
Launch: before / after 6.10pm briefing
Finish: c.7.45pm
Level: Competent river paddlers

With a borderline moderate easterly breeze on the forecasts (so not suitable for everyone at the coast, and with the Willow Set at Papermill otherwise engaged) we’re back to Mill House on the River Chelmer for SUP Club this week. TBC at the briefing, but we’ll probably head east, two locks down to Rushes Lock and back…

Meeting at Mill House comfortably before 6pm (https://w3w.co/fitter.ideas.transmits) ahead of a 6.10pm briefing and launch (although to save a bit of time we’re perfectly happy if some get onto the water first, as long as they’re back at the road bridge on time to hear the briefing…) After, we’ll of course be off to our favourite local for dinner and drinks – numbers with a show of hands at the briefing, as usual.

Paddlers on the Chelmer & Blackwater Navigation must be licensed: get or renew yours via www.waterways.org.uk … please follow our few simple codes of conduct for SUP Club (eg; all paddlers must wear a leash) that you can find on our main SUP Club page.

All competent paddlers (by which we mean comfortable and confident standing-up and paddling strong, non-stop for 90-minutes, able to steer, stop and turn around effectively, ideally reverse-sweep) are welcome at SUP Club. For newcomers we offer Learn to SUP lessons and can teach you everything you need to know in one 2-hour session – if you want a performance boost we also offer private coaching for 1:1 and 2:1 improvers, intermediates and advanced paddlers with or without your own kit.
