There’s a return of the SW wind tonight, and the tides are completely wrong for the coast, so we’re up to the river again for SUP Club… Meeting at Paper Mill Lock (CM3 4BS) from 6.20pm ahead of a 6.45pm launch. As ever we’ll graduate the start with the newest paddlers first and the fastest last. As we did back in mid-May, we’re going ‘both ways’ this week to allow anything up to an 8km+ route: first we’ll head east (downstream!) towards Rushes Lock – the fastest paddlers turning at the lock, the cruisers at the footbridge or whenever they see paddlers coming back the other way. After last night’s rain, pushing back upstream is likely to string us out more than usual – so the chargers can bounce back at Papermill Lock (and/or play in the pool while everyone else catches up) before we all safely portage and head west to Mill House and Little Baddow Mill Lock where we’ll do the same as at Rushes: the fastest can charge all the way to the lock whilst the cruisers can turn at the roadbridge or footbridge or wherever they see paddlers coming back the other way… We should then be off the water by 8.30 in good time for dinner at the Six Bells Boreham. We will be taking the trailer tonight to rent to graduates of our Ready to Ride courses but, proving popular this week already, there are just a few boards left for hire – so email duncan@supsect.com sharpish if you want to put your name on one!
SUP Club is completely free of charge for anyone who owns their own kit (and knows how to use it!) to attend. If conditions are suitable, limited hire kit is available to graduates of our Learn to SUP lessons (or any other BSUPA Ready to Ride course) from duncan@supsect.com
