With the last of this particular wave of crazy summer heat, it could be a busy one again tonight so we’re going to do another variable distance river route ‘both ways’ from Paper Mill Lock… Meeting (CM3 4BS) from 6.20pm ahead of a 6.45pm launch, we’ll graduate the start with the newest paddlers first and the raceboards last. As we did a fortnight ago we’re going ‘both ways’ to allow anything up to an 8km+ route: first we’ll head east (downstream!) to Rushes Lock – the fastest paddlers turning at the lock, the cruisers turning whenever they see paddlers coming back the other way. Then we’ll string out again pushing back upstream, so the flyers can bounce back at Papermill (or play in the pool while everyone else arrives) before we all safely portage, launching the shortboards first again and heading west to Mill House and Little Baddow Mill Lock where we’ll do the same as at Rushes: the fastest go all the way to the lock and the cruisers turn wherever they see paddlers coming back downriver… We should then be off the water by 8.30 in good time for dinner at the Six Bells Boreham. We are taking the trailer tonight to rent to graduates of our Ready to Ride courses – email duncan@supsect.com by 3pm to reserve a ride for £20.
SUP Club is completely free of charge for anyone who owns their own kit (and knows how to use it!) to attend. If conditions are suitable, limited hire kit is available to graduates of our Learn to SUP lessons (or any other BSUPA Ready to Ride course) from duncan@supsect.com
