A fortnight on and the weather and tides have come together again (7.04pm high @4.6m with a super-light northerly breeze forecast) so we’re heading straight back to Old Leigh tonight for another quick drink before paddling home from the pub in the dark! Meeting at Chalkwell (SS0 8JH) from 6pm (when the parking charges end for the day!) we’re looking to launch at 6.20pm – shortest first and fastest last, as always; so please don’t be late, especially if you’re pumping up / on a shorter board! Then it’s 2.5km into Old Leigh, where we’ll get out at The Crooked Billet for refreshments before lighting ourselves up (please please no bright white lights as they kill everyone’s night-vision…) then paddling back to Chalkwell in the dark. And very possibly the mist too: we’ll see (or not!) Anyway, no hire kit – and again, as we’re paddling in the dark, only confident paddlers need apply. Please bring red / green lights so you can be seen, and dress appropriately (it’s mid-october now, so a bit of neoprene might be wise?) After, we’re thinking of hitting the Yak & Yeti curryhouse for dinner – or if there are too many of us, we’ll default to the Elms…
