The second Wednesday night SUP Club of the 2019 season. Wednesday 10th April
Couple of things are for sure – it’s going to be another chilly one tonight, and we’ve got some wind to deal with. Unworkable tides and a solid north-easterly mean we’re on the river for SUP Club, so there will be some shelter but do expect a few tough headwind stretches! Meeting at Paper Mill Lock (CM3 4BS) for 6.15pm ahead of a 6.30pm launch, as usual we’ll graduate it from the shortest boards / newest paddlers first to the raceboards last. Then we’re heading east (downstream but upwind) via Rushes Lock – where we’ll operate a bounce-back policy, so we can get the newest paddlers through in the lead again. (They’re rebuilding the lock so launching and landing is pretty tight.) We’ll aim to convene and turn about 7.15pm at All Saints Church, Ulting, before heading back to Papermill (via another bounce-back at Rushes so no-one gets left behind!) Then after, we’ll phone ahead to the Six Bells for dinner and/or drinks…
SUP Club is completely free if you have your own kit and know how to use it, or we hire for £20 to graduates of our BSUPA Ready to Ride courses on suitable evenings. If you want to learn to paddleboard, check out our SUP school page.
