SUP Club 2019 – Bright but Breezy

Info

The third Wednesday night SUP Club of the 2019 season.

It’s a beautiful day at last – yet please don’t be fooled by conditions right now, as there is a potentially stiff east to south-easterly breeze forecast to build this afternoon and into the evening. We’re still on for Two Tree, where it might well be a battle out against a solid headwind and some chop before we get blown home with the tide. It will be perfectly safe and no problem for our stronger paddlers, although could prove ‘challenging’ for some – so if you’re not up for a workout or aren’t confident in windy conditions, afraid this week probably isn’t for you! But if you’re feeling strong, we’re meeting by 6pm (at Two Tree, SS9 2GB) then we’ll launch the slowest paddlers first at 6.15pm, 10 minutes after low tide (@0.84m), graduating to the fastest last – plan A will be a paddle out into the headwind until 7.15pm when the leaders will turn for home. The fleet will certainly have strung out, so turn when you see paddlers coming back and we’ll all group back up for a flotilla with the tide and breeze into the sunset (7.57pm). Definitely no hire kit tonight, sorry! Then after, we’re considering a curry at the Yak & Yeti?

SUP Club is completely free if you have your own kit and know how to use it, or we hire for £20 to graduates of our BSUPA Ready to Ride courses on suitable evenings. If you want to learn to paddleboard, check out our SUP school page.
