The seventh Wednesday night SUP Club of the 2019 season. Wednesday 15th May.
At last, a sunny Wednesday! Still, there’s a fair old easterly breeze so be ready for it to chill off a bit later… The coast’s unworkable, so we’re back to the river – to mix it up, this week we’re going to meet at Hoe Mill Lock (CM9 6RA) from 6.30pm (be early if you need to pump up) ahead of a 6.50pm launch. (Remember, Chelmer paddlers must be licensed: see www.waterways.org.uk/shop/product_details?id=2038). This week we’re heading east, as usual graduating the launch from the slowest first to the raceboards last. We’ll operate a bounce-back policy at Rickets Lock so we can safely get the newest paddlers through in the lead again, then maybe we’ll all make it to Beeleigh Lock? Wherever, we’ll turn at 7.40pm before heading back to Hoe Mill. After, we’re thinking of going to the Hurdlemakers Arms for dinner – but we’ll need to book at lunchtime **so please comment here if you reckon you’ll want to eat?**
SUP Club is completely free if you have your own kit and know how to use it, or we hire for £20 to graduates of our BSUPA Ready to Ride courses on suitable evenings. If you want to learn to paddleboard, check out our SUP school page.
