Info

Venue: Mill House (CM3 4BG)
Meeting: c.6.10pm, 5th June 2024
Briefing: 6.30pm at Little Baddow Mill Lock
Launch: c.6.35pm at Little Baddow Mill Lock!
Finish: c.8.10pm
Level: Competent river paddlers

With just a moderate north-westerly breeze tonight, SUP Club is heading back to the gravel at Mill House with a straight repeat of last week! Still against the flow, but with winds down around 10 knots it shouldn’t be hard going on the way out – so all competent river paddlers will enjoy this one. The roadside’s not that bad, but parking and pumping are never too pretty at Mill House: so be ready to dodge the puddles by Church Road. We’re going to brief up at the lock, so whenever you’re ready do get in and paddle upstream to get out at Little Baddow Mill Lock where we’ll gather for a 6.30pm briefing before heading on upstream.

So, parking at Mill House c.6.10pm (https://w3w.co/fitter.ideas.transmits) ahead of a 6.30pm briefing up at Little Baddow Mill Lock. After, we’ll be off for dinner and drinks at our favourite local pub – numbers with a show of hands at the briefing.

Paddlers on the Chelmer & Blackwater Navigation must be licensed: get or renew yours via www.waterways.org.uk … we have a few simple codes of conduct for SUP Club (eg; all paddlers must wear a leash) that you can find on our main SUP Club page.

All competent paddlers (by which we mean comfortable and confident standing-up and paddling strong, non-stop for 90-minutes, able to steer, stop and turn around effectively, ideally reverse-sweep) are welcome at SUP Club. This week we just need to know that everyone can paddle against a little bit of breeze.
