Our first June Water Wombles litterpick is confirmed for the summer solstice, Saturday 21st June 2025. From the Willow Set at Paper Mill Lock to clear ‘our stretch’ of the River Chelmer, where recent hot, sunny weather has seen an inevitable spike in littering. All capable paddlers welcome, kids included – and on-foot pickers to walk the riverbanks very welcome too. Meeting from 1.30pm for a c.2pm start. Then we’d expect to be finishing around 5pm, at which point we’ll move our vehicles to the far corner of the Willow Set as we’re going to have a little ‘lock-in’ picnic over in the Wellness Area into the early evening. Don’t over-cater as it sounds like there will be hot-dogs galore already – but do bring a little something to eat and drink for afterwards.
