Confirmed!

Water Wombles – Saturday 12th September 2026

Info
A smaller (but perfectly formed!) group of SUPsect Water Wombles braved the strong winds on Saturday for this month’s litterpick – again on the top of the tidal River Crouch, but this time from Hullbridge. The allegedly big springy tide didn’t flood quite as high as predicted in the end – but we still got onto the banks to collect plenty of bottles, cans, plastics and random debris. Including so many K Cider cans, a fair few more rubber ducks – oh, and of course an owl…

[Confirmed!] Although up front, we know it’s going to be pretty windy so could be tough paddling at times, we’ve decided to go for it anyway – so we’re on for this coming Saturday 12th September for our next Water Wombles litterpick. It’s another big springy tide on the Crouch (5.61m at 14.33) which should cover the marshes again – and despite a fair bit more south-westerly breeze on the forecasts, we’re hoping we can broadly tuck out of it if we get in at Hullbridge for a longer paddle (with the tide both ways) up towards Battlesbridge and back. All capable estuary (and wind-proof!) paddlers welcome – as are on-foot pickers to walk the banks too. We plan to meet c.12.30pm ahead of a c.1pm start.
