Our SUPsect Water Wombles enjoyed a super-productive litterpick on Saturday on the top of the tidal River Crouch from Battlesbridge. A big spring tide allowed us to get onto the marshes and collect plenty of bottles, cans and debris we can’t normally get to – plus of course some leftfield extras, this time including a fire extinguisher, rubber duck and half a dozen lost shoes…

Our August Water Wombles litterpick is confirmed for this Saturday 15th August 2026. We’ve got a big tide on the Crouch (5.63m at 15.34) which we’re hoping should cover the marshes – and there’s some north-easterly breeze on the forecasts, so we’re planning to scramble in at Battlesbridge for a shorter paddle (albeit against the tide both ways). All capable estuary paddlers welcome – as are on-foot pickers to walk the banks too. We plan to meet c.1.30pm ahead of a c.2pm start (we’ll get in when the tide allows us to do so).
