Confirmed!

Water Wombles – Saturday 28th June

Info

On Saturday our SUPsect Water Wombles hit Chelmsford city centre for the second of this month’s river-clean litterpicks (after picking our stretch of the River Chelmer from Papermill the weekend before). This time we joined Love Your Chelmsford’s 3rd annual river-clean (many thanks to Chelmsford City Council’s @loveyourchelmsford for organising). And we had a great morning up and down the Rivers Can and Chelmer through town – which are looking in increasingly healthy condition: full of fish and lillypads, with dragonflies and summery vibes aplenty. Of course we still managed to extract a goodly amount of rubbish, including five shopping trollies on top of the usual assortment of cans, bottles and general detritus that finds its way into the city centre watercourses…

June’s second SUPsect Water Wombles litterpick is confirmed on Saturday 28th June (9am!) for a Chelmsford city centre pick – as Chelmsford Council / Love Your Chelmsford have invited us to join them for their third annual LYC Riverclean in central Chelmsford, this year not from their (and now our) usual spot, but instead up at the Waterloo Car Park next to Riverside Leisure Centre – entrance at w3w.co/corn.frozen.sunset / maps.app.goo.gl/Vio3TFpqCu6Td4qt8. For what it’s worth, below is the image LYC supplied: we can park anywhere in that car-park, but guess they will be setting up in the green box there?

It’s early by our standards: meeting c.9am for a 9.30am launch. And we’ll be slightly scrambling in, where they have cleared some trees by the gas pipe.

And let’s see if this works: here’s an embedded YouTube ad for the event last year, starring us (amongst others…)
